The Dave Robicheaux series has long been one of my favorite crime series of all time, both for the tonal qualities that the series evokes and for the way James Lee Burke brings New Orleans and the New Iberia surroundings to life.
The 17th book in the Dave Robicheaux series which has now been written for over 20 years, has just been released titled Swan Peak. Dave has been through so many challenging personal battles and remains one of the most complex fictional detectives I've read. The series is a superb example of modern day noir. From the plotting to the dialogue, all of James Lee Burke's ring authentically true to life.
From the little of read of the new book the setting moves from Louisiana to the mountains of Montana - can't wait.
By the way, be prepared to watch the movie adaptation of In the Electric Mist With the Confederate Dead which will star Tommy Lee Jones, John Goodman and Mary Steenburgen.
